At Mercy LIFE of Alabama our full spectrum of care includes social services, providing support to seniors and their families. Our experienced social workers collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to facilitate important decisions regarding counseling, caregiver education, mental capacity or medications. As your advocate, social workers provide access to financial or legal guidance resources and communicate with you and your family. Our social services are designed to deliver seamless, organized care, so participants know they are not alone.

Nutritional counseling and diet planning are integral to a comprehensive care plan. A registered dietician evaluates each senior’s nutritional needs to determine the most beneficial dietary recommendations. Working alongside the caregiver and participant, they will assess factors affecting nutrition such as medications, weight, ability to swallow and food access within the home. When the participant visits the Center, a nutritious breakfast and lunch meal are provided. Home-delivered meals can be arranged as needed.

It’s the little things that can add up, and we are here to help. With a focus on helping our participants to live comfortably and independently in their homes, Mercy Life of Alabama provides in-home support for everyday activities such as bathing and dressing, meal preparation, laundry or light housekeeping. Completing these daily tasks may be challenging, but Mercy Life of Alabama offers helpful solutions with our experienced personal home care aides.

Treating each person with a full-circle view, Mercy LIFE of Alabama provides spiritual care, creating an environment of empathy and support. In our efforts to heal participants in mind, body and soul, our chaplains and spiritual companions seek to be a source of consolation to both participants and loved ones alike. Treating the whole person is more than addressing your physical health. Spiritual care focuses on participants’ purpose and meaning. With the support of chaplains and spiritual companions, we seek to provide peace of mind and improve quality of life.

Specialty medical care including dental, podiatry, optometry, and audiology services and supplies is available by our network of medical specialists. Referrals for specialty care must be approved by the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team as being medically necessary.
